Tips on Healthy Eating & Habits

Keep a food diary

Writing down what you eat and the time you eat can help you discover eating habits you may not have realized. It can also be beneficial to write down what you were feeling that time when you consumed a certain food, especially when you weren’t even hungry to begin with. These are some things to consider as you continue to keep track of it in your journal for the time being. Eventually, you can eliminate those unhealthy eating habits, and change it with healthier ones. Although, it may take time, so be patient.

Be knowledgeable of what’s in your food

Eating food with only a few ingredients that can be easily recognized will help you eliminate processed foods.

Do not skip breakfast

Some people think that skipping breakfast will help them lose weight. A well balanced healthy breakfast can provide you with more energy to prepare you for the day ahead.

Add healthy fats

Not all fats are bad. In fact, unsaturated fats are quite important for the body. Some foods that are high in unstructured fats include nuts, olive oil, fish, and avocados

.

Cut down on sodium

Sodium can elevate your blood pressure, which can increase your risk of developing heart diseases. It is recommended to limit sodium intake to less than 2,300 mg per day, which equates to about 1 teaspoon of salt.

Drink plenty of water

It is recommended that individuals drink 6 to 8 glasses of water everyday. This will keep you from becoming dehydrated. Furthermore, you should also avoid sugary drinks like soda, energy drinks, and juices. Healthier alternatives include coffee, tea, and other lower sugar drinks.
